Over the Christmas period we took delivery of more leather bean bags.  High-back (XL) bags are now available on the cozibag website in Brown, Black and Cream, and we’ll soon be adding the XXL version in the coming days.  We haven’t decided on a definite sale price yet, but the RRP is likely to be in the region of £199.00, so current sale price will probably come in at around £160.00, which is tremendouse value for money when compared to leather bean bags of comparible size.

Due to a factory closure at one of our suppliers, we will not be dispatching any new orders until Monday 5th January, by which point the XXL bean bags in real leather should be avaialble to purchase online.  In the mean time, if you simply can’t wait, you can call our office to order over the phone, although hours are limited at the moment so we can’t guarantee we’ll be available to answer during at all normal office hours.

We hope you all had a good Christmas and here’s hoping 2009 will be a little less gloomy than the second half of 2008!

So, we’ve been in a credit crunch for a fair few months now, although we have only just officially entered a recession (or have we yet?  I’m never quite sure anymore as we hear different things depending on who we listen to).  Anyway, it’s all pretty academic because the bottom line is we know the economy is struggling.

However, although there has certainly been plenty of bad news recently, I don’t see too much evidence of a consumer spending meltdown on the high street.  The sad demise of Woolworths has been well documented in the past few days but, let’s face it, most of us knew Woolworths had seen better days a long time ago.  They failed to keep up with the times and offer the kind of shopping experience that customers expect.  I haven’t set foot in Woolworths for years as I personally viewed them as stuck in a time warp; not a pleasant environment to spend much time in.

Having visited my local retail park today, I can tell you it was absolutely heaving with Christmas shoppers and the till queues were depressingly long (if you wanted to join the queue, that is).  I can say with some confidence that the high street stores who offer enjoyable shopping experiences, good products and decent prices, are seemingly trading strongly.  OK, most retailers are having to slash prices but I really don’t think the situation is as bad as the media likes to portray.  It’s sometimes easy to forget that the media make their money from telling us all how terrible the world is, so they’re bound to stretch every story as far as possible.

We know what our customers want - designer, high-quality bean bag furniture which adds an extra, funky seating option to a living space, at prices that suit decent, hard working people - and we offer it to them!  For this reason, we have not suffered a decline in our beanbag sales, we have actually improved on last year’s figures, and a large part of this is due to return customers.  We strongly believe many young businesses fall down because of short term strategies to make a quick buck rather than building a strong, happy customer base.

Of course, my heart goes out to all those people who will find themselves out of work this Christmas, but here’s hoping to a real fresh start and renewed hope for everyone in 2009.

Cozibag Bean Bags

Today we took delivery of our new leather pouffe bean bags.  At the moment we’re just sticking to the ever-stylish chocolate brown colour, but if we get many requests for other colours we may look at adding to the range.

The pouffes are drum shaped and made from 100% premium leather, which is fantastically soft and luxurious with detailed stitching that is beautifully crafted.  We have a couple of different sizes available and are able to offer them at lower prices than near-identical versions you can find at a well-known department store.

These items are the first of many in our new premium leather range of bean bag furniture.  We currently have a new sample Slump bean bag being prepared and it’s the third one we have sampled as we keep sending them back to be perfected.  We really want ensure that our premium leather range lives up to its name and is a match for anything you’ll find in any designer furniture store in the UK.

Cozibag Bean Bags

We are all happy to note that Ricky Hatton beat Paulie Malignaggi convincingly in the early hours of Sunday morning in Las Vegas.  His emphatic victory ended in a slightly peculiar manner, with the American fighter obviously furious at his own corner for throwing in the towel during the 11th round when he didn’t seem to be in any obvious danger.  However, Malignaggi was clearly unable to find the strength and energy to land any telling blows to the dogged Englishman, and his corner sensed that Hatton could potentially inflict some serious damage to their man had he continued.

This, of course, is great news for British boxing, especially after the recent Joe Calzaghe victory in New York against an opponent, Roy Jones Jr, who is rated by most as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of the past couple of decades.

Cozibag Bean Bags

First off, let us start by saying we will never sell our bean bag furniture at lower prices on auction websites.

This practice is something which has puzzled us for some time.  We realise that it’s ultimately due to competition for cheap ‘n’ cheerful products driving prices down, but surely these companies are ripping off their website customers - customer who have shown the most trust in their brand.  Then, of course, there is a huge risk of angry customers complaining after realising they could have bought the same item from the same company for much less.  Why don’t such companies simply apply the same prices on their websites?

We have a sister company that sells beanbags which are made to high standards but from a cheaper material to our own (although cheaper, it is actually similar, if not better, than the type of faux leather used by many companies), as that is what the market generally demands.  Cozibag products are, on the whole, of too high-quality for a market that is largely cost driven.  If we were to set up a dedicated Cozibag store on ebay, we probably wouldn’t make a great deal of sales as our emphasis is on quality, not quantity.

Our sister company does stock some of our Everlast Luxury Faux Leather and Real Leather products but they are no cheaper than at www.cozibag.co.uk - in fact, they are currently more expensive!

Don’t get us wrong, auction sites certainly have their place and are excellent for many things.  We use them ourselves to pick-up second-hand bargains as well as small, cheap goods.  However, we also know that there are many imitation/poor grade goods to be wary of.  The desire of auction site customers to pay rock-bottom prices is entirely natural; they were originally platforms for people to sell off old items they no longer wanted, and the auction sites therefore became synonymous with bargain prices.

As well as retailers with a website presence, there is also, of course, the type of retailer who sticks to ebay only as it is far cheaper and much less hassle to set up.  Building a stylish, easy-to-use website with SSL Secure Payment Protection takes a fair bit of cash and hard work, so only those who know they have something special will bother.  Not all, but some, only sell on auction sites as they know they can get away with lower quality goods - again, this is probably due, historically, to the desire of customers to purchase used goods at rock bottom prices.

The problem now, it seems, is that one auction site in particular is trying to move away from being a great platform for selling second hand goods and into a pseudo price-comparison site.  This means that the second hand items are often swamped by new (often inferior) products from around the globe.

Cozibag Bean Bags

Barack Obama has finally been voted the next president of the USA and Cozibag Bean Bags would like to congratulate him on a momentous achievement!  Although, admittedly, not entirely knowledgeable about the American political scene and how their elections work (in fact, at times, it was a bit baffling), we at Cozibag got the same feeling as the majority of US citizens: Barack Obama is the man to take the country forward.

Although financial markets are unfathomably complicated at times, there is always an overriding element which is remarkably simple: confidence.  Confidence in stocks and investments is essentially what makes the markets tick - as we have seen recently with UK banks being very cautious about lending to one another.  As such, with the dawn of a new and very much exciting era upon us, the election of Senator Obama for president is likely to create a feel-good factor amongst the country’s–and potentially the world’s–population.  This is turn may well have a hugely positive effect on financial markets which, of course, is the driving force behind consumer spending.

Although Cozibag is resilient enough to withstand this current downturn, we all look forward to the day where things are much more stable and people can spend a bit of money without worrying about job losses and low disposable income.  That said, I think we must all accept that we couldn’t carry on spending the way we were a few years ago as it simply was not sustainable.  Again, Cozibag is happy to advocate more responsible consumer spending as we pride ourselves on offering beautiful, luxury bean bag furniture at reasonable prices.

Hopefully Barack Obama will be a new beginning for us all.

Cozibag Bean Bags

We are very pleased to announce that we have teamed up with one of Birmingham’s soon-to-be most stylish bars/afterclub venues.  Club NV is located on Holloway Head in Birmingham City Centre (near the Broad Street entertainment area) and is undergoing extensive refurbishment to transform it into an amazing contemporary setting.

We delivered a variety of bean bags at the weekend and popped in to see how things are shaping up; it’s already looking ultra-stylish with a fantastic urban/industrial feel owing to its exposed brickwork walls, rustic oak floorboards and an inner court/terrace area adourned with contemporary graffiti art by an up-and-coming local artist.  It promises to be the new must-go place on the Birmingham night scene, with a cool, funky and relaxed feel which compliments our brand perfectly.

NV have gone for a few different bean bag styles in 3 colours to compliment the bar’s new, contemporary look: black, red and white.  They have accompanied our bean bags with other modern pieces such as pod chairs and sleek leather couches.

Having already supplied other bars in the Birmingham area, we know our bean bags are the perfect blend of style, comfort and durability for such venues.

Cozibag Bean Bags

Earlier this year, Cozibag Bean Bags teamed up with top energy drink Rockstar to help kit out the chill-out area of the  HUB Festival at Otterspool Park, Liverpool.

The event, which took place between 16th and 18 May 2008, is the UK’s largest free urban youth festival - attracting 23,000 people.  Main attractions were an open air bboy tournament; ‘Shlomo’, the world’s finest beatboxer; a huge graffiti wall; and BMX, in-line skating and skateboarding in an extreme skate park.

Rockstar Energy Drinks provided the chill-out area and we were happy to supply them with around half a dozen XXL High-Back bean bags in black, and a few Slouch bean bags in black.  As a young, modern company, the event was perfect for our products - with our Everlast Luxury Faux Leather beanbags proving their strength and durability.

Unlike other events which seem to attract a certain level of crime each year, the HUB Festival is a refreshing change as it provides an outlet for young people who simply want to listen to great up-and-coming bands and hone their artistic talent or skills on the skate boarding ramps and BMX track.

Rather than spending time and money issuing ASBOs and shuffling paperwork, maybe government/council resources and manpower could be more wisely spent on similar (albeit smaller) projects on a regular basis all over the country.  We all know some young people occasionally drift in to anti-social behaviour, usually at a very minor level, and simply need to focus their energies on something they find interesting.  By providing an environment which is exciting, physically demanding and allows freedom of expression, events of this nature are surely ideal to help young people off the streets.

We’re now nearing delivery of more bean bags in real leather.  In about 2 weeks time we should be taking delivery of both XL and XXL High-Back bean bags in beautiful 100% leather.  We are yet to finalise prices but they should be in the region of £150 to £250; for the size of the beanbags and the quality of the leather, we believe this kind of pricing will be very competitive in the luxury furniture market.

To start with we will be stocking the most popular colours of Dark Brown, Black and Cream, but we may look to expand the colour range in the future.  We know red leather is always popular and are keeping our eyes peeled to determine what else might go down well.  If anybody has any suggestions for colours of real leather bean bags, we’d be grateful for blog comment to let us know.

We are also working on an exclusve range of premium leather bean bag furniture in other shapes which have proved so popular in Everlast Luxury Faux Leather, such as the Slouch and Slump.  These will feature things such as highly detailed stitching and panelled seating areas, but we are still finalising designs.  With a bit of luck, we should have this range available by Christimas but it may well be the new year.  We don’t have any firm idea on prices just yet, but expect them to be much less than designer bean bag furniture of similar quality.
