Ipad launch but why the queues?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Today’s the day that Apple launched its much heralded ‘Ipad’ in the UK, and shoppers queued outside Apple stores throughout the night in an attempt to be amongst the first customers to get their hands on one.

Apple is a fantastic brand, a company which seemingly produces iconic designs and groundbreaking technologies with ease.  But this modern-day craze for queuing throughout the night just to buy the latest electronic gadget (or book, in the case of the Harry Potter series) is a bit of a mystery to me.  I just can’t understand why anyone would put themselves through the misery of standing in a queue for 12 hours through a cold, wet and windy night to buy something they could just buy a few days later without any hassle.

Still, I suppose that’s the great thing about companies like Apple – they have such a dedicated consumer base.  I like to think that Cozibag also has a pretty happy bunch of customers, but I somehow can’t imagine people queuing throughout the night to buy a bean bag, no matter how good it is!

Anyway, there’s no need to queue for a Cozibag bean bag because we currently offer FREE next-day delivery on virtually all items.  Just order by 11am Monday to Thursday to receive a luxury bean bag on your doorstep the very next morning; it’s a much better feeling than queuing up all night.

Cozibag Bean Bag News

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

We’ve spent a bit of time these past few days visiting suppliers about new products/materials/colours and potential sites for photo shoots.  We’re happy to say we’ve found a beautiful tan brown leather to add to our existing real leather bean bag range, which includes the huge Sao Paulo Bean Bag and the slightly smaller Sao Luis and Santiago Bean Bags.

We’re very excited about the tan brown as it’s the same full-grain, luscious nappa leather as currently used for the Sao Paulo, Sao Luis and Santiago, but the lighter colour is also naturally cracked for a real vintage finish.

As for the photo shoot, we have found the perfect location Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter.  It’s a lovely old converted building boasting huge windows and open brickwork to allow us to set up a fantastic scene and show visitors to our site how stylish our beanbags look.

There’ll be more information to come shortly, so keep posted.

In the mean time, don’t forget we still have at least 40% virtually everything on the site and FREE delivery on most bean bags.

Sao Luis Leather Bean Bag

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

We’ve mentioned it in previous posts but the Sao Luis leather bean bag is finally here!  It’s the younger, sightly smaller brother of the Sao Paulo leather bean bag but with the same detailed panel stitching and, of course, the same highest quality soft, sumptuous nappa leather.

In naming the new bean bag we continued the South American theme as it reflects the origins and the spirit of the bean bags.  Sao Luis is situated along Brazil’s northern Atlantic coast, although there are other towns dotted around South America which share the name.

The height dimensions are the same as the Sao Paulo but its diameter of 120cm is 20cm less than its larger brother.  We decided to produce this bean bag following feedback from some customers who loved the Sao Paulo but found it a little too big for their living space.

The Sao Luis looks beautiful in any stylish living space, whether the decor be minimal or funky.  It’s something that adds a sense of fun and tactility, a bit of Joie de vivre next to more formal and static pieces of furniture.

We are currently arranging a photo shoot in a really cool location.  It should allow us to portray our bean bags in a designer living setting to give customers a clear idea of how good they can look.  We’re hoping this’ll take place in the next few weeks so we’ll post more information when we can.

Finally, we will soon be adding a new colour to our real leather range: tan brown.  Tan is a classic colour which compliments so many styles and colour schemes.  It’s perhaps more of a retro colour than black and dark brown so will hopefully provide an option to a whole new set of customers.  We’re always striving to offer unbeatable quality with plenty of choice at sensible prices.

Flexi days

Monday, May 17th, 2010

A friend of mine yesterday mentioned how she planned to take today off work using one of her ‘flexi days’.  It sounded like a very generous system, one which I’m sure helps to keep staff morale as high as possible.  I’m always impressed with companies that offer their employees such perks – the ‘duvet day’ is the latest phenomenon! – and at Cozibag Bean Bags we like to work in as relaxed an environment as possible.  After all, a happy workforce is a productive workforce.

You can’t beat taking a day off to give yourself a nice long weekend.  The question is: do you take off the Friday or the Monday?  Bit of a tough one this, Fridays have an exciting feel about them, a sense of impending joy for the weekend ahead; Mondays have a more relaxed feel about them, a sense that you’ve managed to miss the drudgery of a Monday morning at work.

Either way, with a Cozibag bean bag to hand and the spring sunshine showering your garden, it’s a wonderful feeling.  Get yourself up at a leisurely hour and treat yourself to an indulgent breakfast – maybe that would be a full fry-up with a mug of tea; maybe some delightful pastries with fresh coffee.  Then, take your Everlast Faux Leather Bean Bag outside into the garden and sit back as you read the morning paper to discover what Dave and Nick are up to, or where the ash cloud has blown.  After that it’s off to the shops/gym/countryside/pub – whatever takes you fancy.  Whichever you choose, you will no doubt come home feeling a little tired, so it’s time to order yourself a takeaway before relaxing back on your luxurious leather bean bag to watch some TV!

ALL of our bean bags are still around 40% off (or more), so visit www.cozibag.co.uk today.

Congratulations to Chelsea FC for winning the FA Cup to complete the first league and cup double in the club’s history.  It was a great game to watch from the comfort of our Cozibag quality designer bean bags (I lounged around on a new Sao Luis bean bag in real leather, which is a product we’ve not yet added to the website but will do soon.  It’s almost exactly the same as the popular Sao Paulo bean bag only a little smaller) and Chelsea were deserved winners.  Portsmouth didn’t threaten too much but had that penalty gone in things could have been different.

FA Cup final day is always special for many football fans.  It may be a false memory but it seems that every cup final there has ever been has been played on a gloriously warm, sunny day!  I’m sure I must be wrong but that’s how I think of them.  I remember as a child watching the infamous Liverpool v Wimbledon final and seeing big Dave Beasant save John Aldridge’s penalty, and that looping header from Hugo Sanchez which sealed an historic victory for the team that had only recently worked it’s way up to the top division from non-league football.  That was a sunny day too.  Happy days.

We’ve still got a huge sale on everything and, as mentioned, we will shortly be adding a new real leather bean bag to the range, so please visit cozibag.co.uk to buy a beautifully crafted designer bean bag today.

Still not sure who to vote for? Me neither.

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Well, the poll booths open tomorrow morning and if you’re anything like me you are umming and ahhing over who to vote for.  Conservative seem to understand that not all businesses deserve to be clobbered – for every multi-billion pound bank there are probably a thousand small businesses that don’t make any money at all.  Cozibag Bean Bags is a small business employing a few staff; we have worked tirelessly to build a modern, fresh brand offering high quality bean bag furniture (such as our unique luxury range of Everlast Faux Leather and Real Leather beanbags) and it would be a little harsh to increase the company’s National Insurance liability further.

The Lib Dem promise to increase the tax allowance to £10,000 is an excellent one.  I have long thought that the tax allowance should try to reflect a livable wage and I would suggest it should be even higher than that proposed by Nick Clegg.  This would encourage more people to work (where possible), thus reducing benefit payments.  I would then raise the basic rate of tax for all earnings over that tax allowance (of, say, £15,000) to actually increase total revenue.  On a personal note, I would be happy to pay a little extra income tax, especially during these economically challenging times.

Labour, for all their mistakes (and, let’s face it, any party in power is bound to make mistakes), are still a party which strives to offer fairness across the board.  They have introduced some excellent initiatives for childcare and improved waiting times on the NHS – both huge issues for most people.  Plus, it could be convincingly argued that they have so far carried us through these troubled times and have both the knowledge and experience to see it through to the other side – Gordon Brown is certainly well-placed to understand the economy now.

Finally, there are fringe parties such as UKIP and The Green Party.  They may offer good ideas to some, but they will never stand a chance unless the voting rules are changed to allow people to list multiple choices in order of preference on their ballot paper.

The tactical voting suggested by some top Labour politicians has made this election an intriguing one.  Along with the televised debates, it seems to have reignited many people’s passion for politics, which is a great thing.

Well, just a few points as I see it, but to be honest it doesn’t really help as there are pros and cons every which way you look.  I suspect that many people who, like myself, aren’t aligned (officially or emotionally) to a particular party will do as I do tomorrow: stare at the ballot paper for a while and cross the box that just feels right at the time.
